Coming Home

October 16, 2018

I will be picking Carol up from the airport later today. She has had an incredible trip. She tried to capture her trip in words…some of those thoughts below:

*I asked a man with a Salvadorian flag if I could hold the flag for a picture. I wanted to send the picture to my friends in El Salvador – letting them know they were with me in my heart. I try not to see “other countries” – just God’s people.

*I tried to be patient during the pushing and shoving of the crowds jockeying for a better view of the canonization. It was not rudeness, I told myself, it was passion overflowing.

*I wish I had a canvas and paints with me – I would love to have artistically captured the looks of faith-inspired awe of the people during the Mass and canonization…followed by an explosion of joy when these holy men and women became saints.

*The artwork in Rome! Such a beautiful connection of art and faith.

*I needed to be alone last night, to process all I had just experienced and pray in thanksgiving for the beautiful gift my family had given me. My words will never be able to adequately convey the message of my heart.
