Check Yourself

March 26, 2019

Today’s Gospel reading follows a pattern we find during the Lenten season – yet another story of a self-centered view of life. Today we read Matthew 18:21-35, in which a man seeks to have the debt he owes forgiven – because that is what benefits him – and yet he refuses to forgive the debt of one who owes him – because that is what benefits him.

During Lent, we are called to assess our view of the world. Is it self-centered or God / other-centered? What adjustments need to be made?

Take a look in the mirror. How are you using your God-given gifts in service of others? And…are you working on your shortcomings so that you are better able to serve God and others?
