In today’s gospel, we heard a scribe ask Jesus which commandment was most important. Jesus replied: “The first is this: You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:28-34)
The two images I treasure most in working with young people are…
- Seeing them stand in line to go to confession
- Seeing them willingly and joyfully engaged in service to others – loving their neighbors as themselves.
The latter occurred last Friday as part of our school-wide Community Service Day. We sent 800 people out to serve 52 agencies throughout central Indiana. Kudos to Cathy Dolan and Carol Wagner for orchestrating this logistical beast!
