We, though many, are one Body in Christ
and individually parts of one another.
Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us,
let us exercise them… (Romans 12:5-6)
We get some tough love from St. Paul today.
Allow me to translate:
We, though many, are one Body in Christ = Together we make up the Body of Christ.
…and individually parts of one another = For this to work, each of us has a job to do.
Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us = You have been given the necessary tools.
…let us exercise them = Do your job!
Don’t let the pretty language fool you; Paul is taking us to task.
We have been given everything we need. It’s up to us to make the Body of Christ a reality.
