Each day, I reflect upon a word or a phrase from the readings of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.
Moses stretched out his hand over the sea,
and the LORD swept the sea
with a strong east wind throughout the night
and so turned it into dry land.
When the water was thus divided,
the children of Israel marched into the midst of the sea on dry land,
with the water like a wall to their right and to their left. (Exodus 14:21-22)
MARCH INTO THE SEA: We all have a Red Sea to cross at some point in our lives. We arrive at the edge of the sea, overcome with fear, our baggage catching up with us. We find ourselves with nowhere to turn.
God points us in the right direction and offers us a way out. He parts the sea for us and encourages us to trust Him, yet we are still afraid. Is this the right path? Will I get stuck along the way? Will the sea collapse in around me?
The only way we’ll ever know is to take that first step, and then another, and another. One step at a time, trusting that God would never lead us astray.
