Love God, Love Your Neighbor

August 20, 2021

Each day, I reflect upon a word or a phrase inspired by the readings of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.

“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”

Jesus answered, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:34-30)

LOVE GOD, LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR: Some scripture passages do not require a deep dive into intellectual analysis or theological interpretation.

Sometimes, Jesus provides clear instructions…marching orders…a “To Do” list.

Such is the case in today’s gospel: Love God. Love others.

Now, we just need to go out and do it.
