Mercy and Redemption

October 14, 2021

Each day, I reflect upon a word or a phrase inspired by the readings (or as is the case today, inspired by the Responsorial Psalm) of the day. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps incorporate that word or phrase into your daily prayer.

With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redemption. (Psalm 130)

MERCY and REDEMPTION: We believe and put our hope in a merciful and loving God. We are conscious of our own brokenness and need for redemption. The Lord calls us to imitate him more perfectly by witnessing to the inherent dignity of every person, including those whose actions have been hurtful to us or to others.

Our faith and hope is in the mercy of God. We crave the mercy of those we hurt as well.

As Christians we are called to give witness to the gospel – a gospel of life, hope and mercy. We are confident that by both receiving and offering mercy, we open the door to redemption for ourselves and others.
